Well summer is slowly winding down so I figured this would be a good time to update our blog! Brian and I are both doing well! Brian is still deployed in the Philippines and still has about 2 months left until he returns in early November. I'm starting to get very anxious for his return already! We have been in good communication pretty much the entire deployment! We email pretty much daily and Skype as often as possible so I can see him on the web cam. We are both looking forward to his return! He has been going back and forth between 2 different bases and has been staying busy with training. His platoon recently played in a really big basketball tournament against a bunch of Philippino teams so that was kind of fun for them. They won every game except the last game which was against the Mayor of his town. The Mayor cheated though and flew in a bunch of professionals from Manila so they could beat the seals. So the Mayor's team ended up winning by like 7. Cheaters!! :)
I have had a very good summer living with my mom in Oregon! I've been seeing a doctor here monthly and recently had my 20-week ultrasound. The doctor said everything with the baby is developing normal so far and they re-confirmed that we are having a boy (since we found out early). I have 2 more doctor's appointments here in Oregon before I head back to San Diego in October. When I get home I will continue seeing the doctor that I initially met with in La Jolla.
Other than that I've been taking it easy and been trying to stay active. My mom and sister hosted a baby shower for me August 20th which was really fun and I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in a very long time. Brian and I also received some really nice baby gifts so thank you to everyone for your shower gifts! We really appreciate it! Also thank you to my family that traveled from far away to be at the shower!
I recently returned from a trip to Las Vegas with my mom and my brother Cody. We decided to go kind of last minute to celebrate his 21st Birthday! It was a fun weekend although I couldn't really do that much to celebrate with my brother. Going to Vegas pregnant is not the most ideal trip! I couldn't drink with my family and gambling was tough too because so many people smoke in the casinos so I tried to stay out of the casinos as much as possible. But it was nice to lay by the pool despite the 107 degree weather and we saw two shows. We saw David Spade one night at the Venetian and the second night we saw Cirque du Soleil Mystere at Treasure Island. We stayed at the Venetian and I think my brother had a fun trip even though he was there with his mom and pregnant sister :)
I'm looking forward to the coming weeks! This next weekend I go to Sunriver (central Oregon) with my brother, mom and aunt and cousins. We'll rent a cabin where we can relax, lay by the pool, play tennis and go bike riding. A week later my brother and I are going to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit our dad. I will stay for 2 weeks while my mom watches Dexter back here in Oregon. I'm looking forward to getting to spend some time with my dad. When I return from Charlotte my mom and I are off to Maui for a week long trip that we are both very excited about. Shortly after our return my mom will help me drive back to San Diego. So I will finally return home by mid-October.
Despite Brian being away it has been a good summer! I'm really looking forward to his return! I'm also excited for Fall to come! I'm excited I'll get to be in Oregon and North Carolina for Fall because we don't really get an Autumn in San Diego! It was always my favorite time of year! Soccer season, football season and the beginning of all my favorite holidays :) I hope all our friends and family are doing well and are enjoying the rest of summer! Brian and I miss you all!
